Coaching for Clinicians – South Africa
My time in Cape Town, South Africa was transformative in my own practice and career path. I spent a lot of time teaching and training and a lot of time mentoring, using a coaching approach. I am very clear about the difference and have recently valued developing and honing a coaching offer specifically for colleagues in RSA, early on in their career paths. I believe coaching offers a lasting legacy for change ( see www.cathrynedwards.com/whatistheevidence), which is why I am so pleased to be able to propose bespoke coaching pilot scheme for medical colleagues in RSA.
I offer an early career stage programme of coaching especially designed for South African doctors who are working in different specialties and contexts either during or shortly after completing their training.
It’s designed to help mentor and support you through those early barriers and challenges– career choice, academic struggles, preparing to interview, setting up new services.
It starts with an honest look at who we are as doctors and people, our goals and aspirations and framing what you want to achieve. Along the way it will open possibilities for you to find the personal resources and professional networks to achieve your goals. Things you might have blind spots with are: –
- Taking on more senior responsibility
- Working with new teams
- MMed struggles
- Choice of specialty
- Where to work
- Whether research is for you
- What other roles are out there? Trainer, educator, departmental leader, regional / national expert?
This starter coaching package is tailored to your needs and priced in Rand or pounds Sterling for your convenience.
As an introductory offer to the benefits of coaching and as part of a pilot programme for doctors in training, please contact me directly if you are interested in a 5 session programme with a 75% fee reduction cathryn@cathrynedwards.com
For senior clinicians in leadership roles, I offer bespoke one to one coaching packages to help overcome individual challenges including assessing your impact as a clinician leader: team leadership; senior career opportunities, longevity in career choices and sustainable practice.
There is so much value for us all, in time spent in self -focus and away from the daily workload, in order to re-engage more fully with life and career through wise decision making.

with your one wild and precious life?”
